Appointments are often short, and it is easy to leave feeling you did not say everything you meant to. Going in with a few written questions — and your symptom notes — helps you use the time well. Asking a clinician to explain their thinking is always reasonable.

Seven questions worth bringing

A clear report does not always rule endometriosis out. If your pain continues, it is reasonable to ask what the next step would be.
  • Could these symptoms be related to endometriosis?
  • What other conditions should we consider?
  • What can and cannot be seen on this test?
  • What are my treatment options?
  • When should I seek a specialist opinion?
  • How will we know whether treatment is working?
  • What should I do if my symptoms continue?

Bring evidence, not just words

A short symptom diary — pain levels, days affected, what helped — gives the clinician something concrete to work with, and helps counter the sense that pain is being exaggerated. You can prepare one privately before you go.
